Letter from the Editor

So, I'm kind of broke. Pretty much everything I own needs to be repaired. SuperWalrusLand/HamsterSpeak is costing me more this year than ever before, which is kind of a pain. It only costs $100 a year right now, but that's about all I've got once the bills are paid (and I still don't have enough to repair my car or computer). So, I'm going to be a jerk and have a HAMSTERSPEAK PLEDGE DRIVE. Anyone who donates at least $5 gets an original, autographed drawing of any characters from any of my games, per your request. Prefered method of payment is via Paypal; send donations to Bobsurlaw@yahoo.com and be sure to include a message telling me what sort of picture you want to receive as well as your mailing address so I have somewhere to send it.

Whoever donates the most by the end of June gets their artwork and SURLAW BOX 2009. What will be in it? Who knows! Previous recipients (Squall, Moogle) seemed to enjoy them, though.

Community News

We are pleased to announce the launch of The Hamster Wheel, a new site dedicated to being a centralized archive of all things OHR.

The Hamster Wheel is a new website created and maintained by Meatballsub. Its purpose is to centralize all information regarding the OHRRPGCE engine, OHRRPGCE games and their authors, as well as list OHRRPGCE music composers, contests, and other things related to the OHRRPGCE. Even though the site is still in its early stages, we hope that in time it will grow into something big. Check back often for updates, or better yet, subscribe to the RSS feed and stay up to date with the latest news.

  • Some Words from the Community
  •  Every month, we'll spotlight some comments from the readers regarding the previous month's issues. Here's what our readers have to say about last month's issue.

  • "Fantastic issue. Great features. Great video retrospective. I wish all issues were packed with this much content." -Mr. 8-Bit

  • "As usual, really liked Hawk's JSH Retrospectives. The OHR-House 3 chat was also really interesting to read through.

I also just realized that my script won't work properly at speeds other than 4, so watch out for that. Great issue, guys!" -TwinHamster

  • "The Pixel Art Tutorial was pretty helpful." -Momoka

  • "The cover is disturbing." -Red Maverick Zero, with the Editor in agreement

  • "I think the Pixelation retrospective was the funniest thing I've seen all week. Largely because I remember playing it way back in the day, and thinking pretty much the same thing.

In fact, I'd like to propose upgrading "Giz, I need a duck!" to catch-phrase status." -Stewie
